Generation 1, Chapter 14: Spring Babies

~Laura-Jayne's P.O.V~
Today was a Saturday so Lindsey and I decided to hang out at the park. We could have staid at my place but there wasn't really much to do there, and my mom wanted me to get some air. Spring was here so the weather was nice and all the trees were beginning to grow flowers. I love flowers, they always remind me of Jimmie, cause he always used to say I was pretty as a flower.

I haven't seen much Jimmie anymore. After his 14th birthday party we saw each other only a few more times before his school work became too much. He was home-schooled and his parents finally decided to let him go to public school after winter break. He was pretty smart and was immediately sent to high school. With Jimmie in High School and me in Elementary School we almost never see each other anymore.

Lindsey and her mom visit Hidden Springs every mouth. So I've got a friend to hang out with for a couple days a month, but the remainder of the month I'm alone. I don't have any best friends at my school. I have friends that I eat lunch with and talk to, but no best friends- no one to hang out with and do crazy things. That's why I'm always thankful whenever Lindsey comes to town.
"Hey LJ I'm bored. I wanna do something besides sit here?"

"Well we can swing."

"Yeah, but we already did that. Let's skip some stones in the lake or something."

"Um, alright, but first I bet I can swing higher then you, jump off, and land on my two feet without falling."

"No way. I am."
We both laughed and began swinging our feet forward and back until we were high in the air. I was first to jump off. I landed on my feet, but I was only able to stand for a couple seconds before I lost my balance and fell on my butt.

Lindsey giggled at me before she made her leap off her swing too and landed on her feet. Just like me she only stood for a second before she lost her balance too and fell on her butt. There was a second of silence before we both busted out laughing.
Lindsey and I helped each other up and we both ran over to the lake. It was so pretty the way the sun reflected on the surface of it. Lindsey then picked up a nice flat stone from the grass and eyed the lake like she was trying to figure out how to throw the stone, so that it will skipped across the water perfectly.

She lifted the stone, pulled her arm back and tossed it. It skipped across the lake and then sank. Ouch! I quickly turned my head and and frowned as I saw a poor little fish swimming away in a hurry just where Lindsey had thrown her stone.
"Careful Lindsey, you hurt a fish."

"What? What fish?"

I looked to the water again and pointed to the same little fish I saw a second ago and said, "That one. You hurt that one. Didn't you hear her say ouch?"

"What? No! Fish can't talk."

"Yeah they do. They talk to me and I talk to them."
"You can talk to animals LJ?"

"Um, yeah, doesn't everyone?" I was confused. I thought everyone could understand animals like I always have. I never bother to mention it to anyone cause I thought everyone knew, but I guess not.
"Holy butter balls LJ does anyone else know about this?"

I thought for a second. "No. Just you."

"Man, that's awesome. You and I have to go to the pet store and tell me what all the animals are thinking."

"I don't read minds Lindsey. They just talk to me, only when they want."

"Oh, um, well maybe one will talk and you can tell me then."

We both laughed and I nodded my head in agreement. I never had to tell people what the animals were saying before, but I guess there's a first time for everything right?

~Dawn's P.O.V~
I logged onto my email and checked a few messages. It was then I saw that I had gotten a message from Aiden. I opened up the message and began to read it.

Dear Dawn Starr,
I can't express in words how grateful I am to you for inspiring me to do the 100 Baby Challenge. Mozart has brought me so much happiness since he was born. I could definitely see myself doing this another 99 times.
Every night I sing him to sleep and kiss him goodnight. He is so adorable I can't stand it. He reminds me of his mother so much, so strong and independent. He loves music like his mum and I. It's sad that he is growing up so fast, his age day is approaching so fast.
I'm certainly going to miss the little things like teaching him to walk and feeding him in a high chair but I guess that's why I'm so lucky I have 99 more chances to do this. Speaking of which I'm about to go meet with another surrogate and then I'm going to spend my day with Mozart at the park. Today is Leisure Day and I want my son to experiences his first holiday with me. I hear Laura-Jayne is growing up into a charming young girl. I can't wait to have some girls of my own.
xoxo Aideybabes

I smiled at Aiden's letter and the memories of last Spring came back in my mind. I had visited Bridgeport with Laura-Jayne to see some of my challenge kids. I had taken LJ to the park while we were there and she ran off on me. It was then I met Aiden Swan at the park upset about not getting into University. I gave him some helpful advice and my email to tell me about how his challenge was going. I smiled again and began to type a response to his letter.
Dear Aiden,
I'm so glad to hear that your loving the challenge so much. I remember when I first started my challenge back when I was 18. About your age I think. I was so excited to become a parent. Of course it was tough at first but I soon got the hang of it.
There were some negative parts about taking on the challenge though like morning sickness and having to carrying a huge stomach around, but I guess you don't have to worry about that. Haha! Besides all that it was worth it all when I got to take home each baby from the hospital. The challenge was the best years of my life, it's where I met the love of my life.
I hope your challenge is great as mine was and I wish you luck on 99 more babies. I myself am expecting again. If you ever need advice or someone to talk to just shoot me an email or give me a call. Now I must be getting back to my own life. I wish you luck one more time and the best in your challenge.
xoxo Dawn Starr

As I clicked send I heard a few foot steps and then Newbie's came into my view. "Hey sweetie," I smiled.

"I just letting you know that I'm running to the store. Do you need anything?"

"Yeah. Can you pick us up some toilet paper, we're running low in the upstairs bathroom. Also, can you pick up ice cream. I sorta, um, ate the rest." I said the last part while avoiding eye contact. Newbie chuckled and said alright before giving me a kiss on the lips and walking out the front door.
I went back to checking my other emails when I heard the front door open again and two sets of feet ran into the house.

"MOM!!", Laura-Jayne yelled as she walked into the kitchen. "Can Lindsey and I go to the pet store to look at the animals?"

"Sweetie that's on the other side of town. Your not walking all the way over there without an adult."

"Um, then can you drive us then?"

"Yeah, sure, I need to pick up another bag of cat food anyways," I slap my head when I realized I hadn't asked Newbie to pick any up any cat food. I could call him but since the girls wanted to go I guess I'll drive down there.
Pulled myself and my big, bulging stomach out of the chair and grabbed my purse and keys from the table. There was a sharp pain in my abdomen and I dropped everything in my hands, everything except my phone, which was in my pocket. I quickly grabbed my phone and tossed it to LJ and told her to call daddy to meet us at the hospital.

She did as I told her and 20 minutes later we were all at the hospital. A few more hours after that I gave birth to my babies. Triplets. Their names were Gretel, Cory and Barrett.

I was so happy to see my new little babies and Newbie was happy too knowing that we now had three new babies instead of one, and another little daughter to spoil.  Laura-Jayne was beyond excited about the new arrivals because now she can be called a big sister.

When I finally got to go home we all worked together to care for all the little ones. It's so nice to have help caring for so many babies, unlike my challenge where it was just me. Now It's me, my husband and our daughter caring for three babies.

~*~
I'm sorta happy and sad to say this is the last chapter of generation 1. But don't worry about Dawn- she's will still be in upcoming posts but not as the main character. The next post will begin generation 2 and we will continue the journey of Laura-Jayne's life.

I wanna thank AideyBabes for letting Dawn appear in his challenge and letting me respond to the email he had sent Dawn. You can find his challenge here.
Also thank you to Kurtis for letting me use Lindsey once again in one of my posts, you can read more from his legacy here.

Thank you all and I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment.

Generation 1, Chapter 13: Familiar Faces

"Look, Mommy! I made a sun."

"That's wonderful sweetheart. You're gonna be a great painter when your older."

"No! I wanna be pet doctor. I'm gonna make people's pets feel better."

"Well your gonna be a great pet doctor one day."

Little LJ and I spent our afternoon painting in the activity room, making beautiful pictures, while we waited for Newbie to come home from the Hospital.

A week ago we heard there were new neighbors in town and when we heard they had a child around 5 years old, we had to meet them. With LJ only being 2 there weren't many kids living in town around her age. We made the decision to go and visit this new family and maybe LJ could make a new friend.
When Newbie finally got home LJ and I got ready to visit the new neighbors. Of course LJ didn't want to leave just yet without saying goodbye to the cats. I swear that girl just loves Storm and Opal. They're inseparable, I would always find Opal or Storm hanging around her. It's almost like she understands them and they understand her. But I guess that's what happens when you're an animal lover.
The new neighbors moved into a home that was just a couple blocks away from us. When we pulled up the driveway the place was huge. It had a large yard and what looked like a barn in the back that held whatever kinds of animals inside.

We walked up the short amount of steps, with LJ in Newbie's arms, and knocked on the front door. There were sounds of feet shuffling on hard wood floor coming from inside and then the front door swung open, showing two people inside.
"Hi!" Said the woman that stood in front of Newbie. "Oh my gosh, Fallon, it's the couple from the island."

"Oh it is isn't it. What a surprise."

I looked to Newbie with a confused look on my face and he returned that same confused look back at me. "Excuse me?" Newbie asked.

"Wakiki island three years ago. Remember? I'm Fallon and this is my wife, Rachel."

It seemed to click in both of our minds at the same time, because we both smiled and laughed. "Oh my god, I can't believe it's you. What are the odds that you two would move to our town," I said in a half laugh.

"Yeah. Let's talk more inside," Rachel offered as she stepped aside to allow us to pass.
We walked inside and barely got the chance to sit before Rachel started talking. "I see you have a daughter. She's the most adorable little thing I ever did see. Oh I always wanted a daughter."

"Yeah, she's our little LJ," Newbie smiled.

"LJ? That's cute is that short for something?"

"Laura-Jayne."

"Adorable name."

My eyes turned from Newbie to Rachel and Fallon and asked, "What made you move to Hidden Springs?"

Fallon was the first to answer, "Oh we moved around a lot for the past 10 years of being married, we figured it was time for a permanent home for our son's sake. Hidden Springs seemed like wonderful town, it's not too big or too small."

"Son? Oh I remember you mentioning about a son when we first met. Can we meet him?" I asked, hoping to finally meet their little boy and hopefully LJ can have a little friend to play with.
"JIMMIE!! COME HERE BOY!!" Yelled Fallon.

Soon a little boy came running out of the other room. He was laughing as he ran with his arms stretched out to the side like he was some kind of plane. When he got to the couches, he said, "Yes daddy?"

In the corner of my eye I saw LJ's head shoot up from her daddy's shoulder to the little boy by Rachel and Fallon.

"JIMMIE!!!", LJ yelled as she pulled herself away from Newbie and onto the floor.
She darted over to the little boy, calling his name as she did. Jimmie seemed to notice her and yelled, "Jayne!"
They both ran into each other's arms and into a great big hug. I looked to LJ shocked. "LJ, is this the Jimmie from Twinbrook?"

"Yes, mommy."
I looked to Rachel, who looked just as shocked by this as me. "You were in Twinbrook?", I asked right away.

"Why, yes. We were there for a horse show. I took Jimmie to the park and afterwards he continued to talk about a girl name Jayne. I guess LJ is Jayne, huh?"

"I guess so," Newbie added.

"Small world this is," Fallon laughed.

We all laughed in unison and continued to talk about anything and everything.
Off to the distance, Jimmie took LJ's hand and led her out of the room. "Come on, Jayne. I'm gonna show you my room."

"Okay," She giggled.

We all smiled at our kids and Rachel suggested that me and her go follow them. I didn't argue and we both trailed behind the two, leaving the guys alone in the living room.
Jimmie took LJ to his room and they played with some of his toys, but then they just sat on the floor talking.

"Surprise!", Jimmie said at one point when he hugged LJ from behind.

They both giggled and LJ playfully slapped him in the arm. "JIMMIE! You scared me!"

Rachel and I couldn't help smile at each other as we continued to watch them from the crack of the door.
"I'm gonna kiss you Jimmie," LJ giggled.

"Why?"

"Because I like you." LJ leaned over by Jimmie gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Rachel and I couldn't control the loudness in our voices and we both yelled, "AWE!!!" Thankfully neither LJ or Jimmie heard, but we both left after that.

"I see wedding bells in the future," Rachel laughed as she started walking back down the stairs towards the guys.

I laughed too and added,"Don't tell Newbie what we saw. No need to worry him about our daughter liking boys already."

"Haha. No worries."
A few hours later it was time to leave. When we went searching for LJ to take her home, we found her asleep in Jimmie's arms on his bedroom floor. It was such an adorable sight that we almost didn't want to wake them up.

~*~
8 Years later
"Jimmie I was thinking that we should make our snowman a ballerina," LJ said as she padded the lumpy snow that is the snowman's chest.

"No way! I wanna make HIM a wrestler."

"Ew!! No! Wrestlers are all sweaty."
"Fine, how about a hockey player?"

"I like hockey. Do you have a helmet or a hockey stick?"

"Yeah. My dad has one in the garage from when he played hockey in college."

"Do you think he'll let us use it for our snowman?"

"Yeah. I'll go get it, hang on."
Jimmie ran off to fetch his dad's helmet, stick, and gloves and together, him and LJ finished the snowman.

LJ jumped up and down and wrapped her arms around Jimmie's stomach, almost throwing him into the snow. "Yay! Our snowman looks awesome."

"Hey, lil Jay, be careful you almost knocked me over in the snow," Jimmie said catching himself before he fell.

"Whoops!", LJ giggled. "And I'm not little. I'm only three years younger than you."

"You're still littler than me," Jimmie joked.

LJ stuck her tongue out at Jimmie and then giggled.
She then jumped into the snow and started to make herself a snow angel. "Jimmie make a snow angel with me." Jimmie didn't argue and jumped into the snow with LJ and made himself a snow angel too.
"Laura-Jayne it's time to go. Tell Jimmie goodbye," I yelled.  It was another day at the Park's place and another goodbye, Laura-Jayne always hates the goodbyes. She hates to leave Jimmie. We used to let them have sleepovers but that stopped 4 years ago. No more sleepovers when puberty is near is what Newbie always said. I didn't argue with him on that but Laura-Jayne hated it.
"You're still coming to my birthday party this Saturday, right?"

"Yes, silly. You only turn 14 once."

"You only turn every age once, lil Jay."

"Shut up, you knew what I meant."
Laura-Jayne and Jimmie both laughed and gave each other a big hug. "Hey can I walk you guys home?", Jimmie asked with a hopeful smile.

"I don't know. Gotta asked my parents," LJ said as she turned her head back at us, "Momma, Daddy, can Jimmie walk us home?"

"If his parents say it's okay," I smiled.

Their little faces lit up in a great big smile and then they both vanished from our sights and were running into Jimmie's house to ask his parents. They disappeared behind the front door and Newbie and I were left alone in the snow.
Newbie and I looked away from the door the same time and smiled at me.  Taking my hands in his, he swung them from side to side, smiling and starring into my eyes.

"When shall we tell her?"

"Tell her what? About the pregnancy?"

"What else? I mean, she's gonna be a big sister. I'm sure she'll be excited about the news."

"Hmm. How about Tomorrow morning? No need to excite her this late, or she'll be up all night."

"Good point. Tomorrow morning we'll tell her."

Generation 1, Chapter 12: Twinbrook

 [Unedited]
"Yeah, Newbie we just made it a few minutes ago. We're on our way to the cemetery now."

Your probably a little confused at the moment and I would be too. You see today is my mother and father's wedding anniversary and a few days a ago I made plans to come back to Twinbrook to visit their graves. Just me and Laura-Jayne. Since she never got the chance to meet her other grandparents I thought I'd bring her along with me. Newbie would have gone with us too but he had work and knew I would probably want to be alone and I plus had Laura-Jayne for comfort.
I called a taxi to come take us to the cemetery since stupid me didn't bring a car seat for Laura-Jayne, I had to hold her while driving. When the taxi driver arrived I placed the stroller in the trunk and sat in the back with my daughter and told the driver where I wanted to go.
The cemetery hadn't change at all since the last time I've been here. Soon memories of the time I lived in Twinbrook came flooded back in my mind. I lived here since I was a teenager, it's where I started my challenge, where I met Lerk, where I met Newbie, and most of my friends, and where my parents are buried. A tear formed in my eye as I thought back to all the great times I had living here and all the sad times. I missed this place so much.
I pushed Laura-Jayne through the cemetery gates and passed many graves. She kept pointing to each headstone we passed and saying, "Look mommy a gwave."

I let a small laugh as she did this, I wish kids can stay this little forever. Oblivious to all the sadness that most likely came from each grave.
When I approached the graves I was looking for I took Laura-Jayne from her stoller and placed her on the grass next to the headstones.

"This Laura-Jayne is your Grandma Lessie and Grandpa Oscar. They died before you were born but they know you exist and love you never much and will watch over you always."

Laura-Jayne crawled closer to the stones and touched them. Then smiled and said, "Love you, Gramma and Grampa. Love you."
I couldn't help but tear up as I watched my daughter talk to my parents. But I had to stay strong and not let Laura-Jayne see me cry, so before she saw I whipped the tears from my eyes and crouch down beside her and the headstones. "Love you mom and dad. We both do."
Then I looked over to my daughter and said, "Ready to go, Laura-Jayne?"

"Can we go to the park mommy?"

"Haha. Yes, lil Jay, we can go to the park."

"Yay!"
Instead of calling another taxi I decided to walk to the park. It was only a mile away and I wanted to see my old homes. It brought a frown to my face when I found that both houses have been torn down. There had been a lot of changes to the town since I last seen it. Even my home till I was 18 had been renovated to a single bedroom house.
I took Laura-Jayne from her stroller and placed her on the ground. I took a seat on a bench nearby while she crawled over to another little toddler who was playing with her doll.
"Cute little girl you have. My daughter is right over there with the pigtails and spotted dress."

"Thank you," I said, looking from my daughter to the woman next to me. "You have an adorable little girl too."

"Thank you."
"Hey I never seen you here in town before. Did you just move?"

"No. I used to live here. I came to visit my parent's graves, and I brought my daughter with because she never got to meet them."

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your parents."

"It's okay. Thank you."
"I'm Cassidy Cronwell by the way and that's my daughter, Lindsey."

"I'm Dawn Starr and my daughter, Laura-Jayne."

"Cute name."

"Thank you. Wait, Cassidy Cronwell? Your married to Harrison Smith right?"

"Yeah. How'd you know?"

"I'm a bridesmaid in Harrison's mom's upcoming wedding."

"Wow, really?"

"Yeah."

~3rd Person P.O.V~
Laura-Jayne immediately crawled over to another little toddler, who was playing her her doll, and started playing with her own stuffed toy.
The little girl with pigtails smiled when she was Laura-Jayne sit next to her and wanted to say hi. "HI! What's your name?"
Laura-Jayne looked up from her toy to the girl in pigtails and said her name. "Lwura-Jayne."
"Hehe. That's a funny name. My name is Lindsey. Wanna be my fwiend?"

"Yeah!"
The two little girls went back to playing until another toddler came by to say hi. He saw them from afar and asked his mommy if he can go play.

"Hi," he said shyly, waving his hand at Laura-Jayne and smiling. "Wanna play?"
Laura-Jayne waved back at the little boy who was much older then her and smiled. "Hi. Yeah let's play."

Lindsey didn't wave but giggled when she saw how cute the little boy was standing in front of them.
After hellos the little boy, who's name is Jimmie, started to play monster with the girls and chased them around the grassy area next to the sand box.

"I'm gonna get you girls! Rawr!"

"No your not," the girls giggled while running for their lives from Jimmie.
Laura-Jayne and Lindsey ran and hide behind a nearby tree, hoping that Jimmie wouldn't find them.
Jimmie jumped out from behind the other side of tree with his hands up and his tongue sticking out. "Boo!"

Everyone giggles and laughs and continues to play other games until Jimmie's mom calls him and tells him that it was time to leave.
Laura-Jayne gives Jimmie a big hug good bye and Lindsey giggles at how funny Jimmie looked when she hugged him.

"I'm gonna miss you Jimmie," Laura-Jayne says, squeezing Jimmie's chest.

"Bye, bye Jay Jay," Jimmie smiles, not remembering Laura-Jayne's full name.
Not long after Jimmie left, Dawn called out to Laura-Jayne, "Time to head home, lil Jay. Say goodbye to your friend."

Laura-Jayne stood up and ran over to hug her new friend Lindsey goodbye.

~Dawn's P.O.V~
"Bye, bye Lindsey. I'm gonna miss you."

"Bye, bye Laura. I'm gonna miss you too."

Both girls looked so cute hugging each other. They acted like they knew each other their entire lives and one was leaving for a long vacation. I looked to Cassidy and we both knew that our daughters have become close friends and a visit to Twinbrook in the future was a definite yes.
After hugging Lindsey, Laura-Jayne walked over to me and I lifted her up and into my arms. "You have fun lil Jay?"

"Yes mommy."

"You wanna see Lindsey again soon?"

"Jimmie too?"

"Who's Jimmie?"

"Jimmie played monster with us today."

"Oh, is that so? Well if you see Jimmie again I wanna meet him, alright?"

"Okay mommy."

"Now let's go home."
