Generation 1, Chapter 9- Part 1 of 3: What the Hell Happened?!

After the sudden visit from my sister I invited her inside. We sat at the table in the kitchen and she started from the beginning.
"Mom and dad, my biological parents, our parents, put me up for adoption but it was an open adoption. Meaning I knew I was adopted my entire life and I knew who my parents were."

"But why didn't you try to contact sooner? Why now after all these years?", I asked.
"Well I was happy where I was and if our parents really wanted to see me they would have, so I just continued on with my life. The couple that adopted me were Frenchmen, but they were also great explorers. I did a lot of traveling as a child. and my mom home-schooled me...."

Maribel continued her story by telling me all the places she's seen and all the great times she had with her parents. She told me that once she graduated high school at the age of 16, she went to college. She studied to become a top secret researcher in the science career, and by the age of 25 she graduated at the top of her class.
".....a year and a half after I graduated from college there was an explosion in one of the tomb my parents were exploring and they both were killed immediately. I was so devastated and sank into a minor depression for almost a year."

"Oh my gosh. That horrible."
"But I managed to snap back to reality and I became determined to find my real parents. I contacted the adoption agency but by then both our parents had been dead for some time. I wanted to cry and be upset, but when I learned that I have 4 siblings I was happy. I never had siblings before. Even with my adopted parents, I was an only child. And when I learned that you were doing the challenge I followed your progress. You don't know how many times I wanted to come visit you and congratulate you on all your accomplishments; finishing your challenge, getting married. I wanted you to keep your space and I had no idea if you knew about me or not."
"And Starlight Shores?"
"I work there. I was on my way to work and I thought if I cut through the airport I would get there faster. I had no idea I would run into you. I freaked out thinking that you might recognize our similarities, so I apologized quickly and got out of there fast. As you can see I couldn't help it and I looked up your address, I took that visit like a sign."
"So did I."

We both smiled and at the same time we got up from our chairs and gave each a long awaited hug.

2 Months Later

"Maribel you have to go. This will probably be the last Turner wedding you'll ever get to go to, and I know that Dean, Doug, and Blake are dying to meet you in person."
"I know, I tried to get out of work, but they need me. I have no one else to cover for me. And they have seen me."
"Skype isn't meeting in person, Maribel."

"Dawn, if I could I would, but I can't. But I would love for you to stop by my work sometime this weekend. I could give you a tour?"
Since Maribel's visit at my place 2 months before, she had transferred over to the Hidden Springs Science Facility to be closer to some family, mostly me. Dean and Doug lived in Sunset Valley and Blake lived in Twinbrook.
"Okay that sounds good, how about Saturday afternoon? I have a few people coming over that morning."
"Saturday sounds good. And if you can bring friends, bring them, the more the merrier."

"Ha-ha, Alright. See you then."
"See you."

After hanging up with Maribel, I grabbed my purse and met Newbie outside by the car. We drove down town to a beautiful little park where the wedding was suppose to be. When the wedding started we were all silent, watching the couple recite their vows and exchange rings.

The other girls and I did get a little teary eyed during the vows. It's so wonderful to hear the words of love from Karen and Dean. I mean Dean has found his one true love, unlike his first wife who he married because of their son.

Doug and his wife brought Moises to the wedding, and I was so happy to see my little nephew again. He was more mobile now and just began to learn to walk. Blake and Valentina brought their little girl, Brie, too, She can now sit up and crawl.

Brie is my first Niece and this was only my second time seeing her since she was born, so I made sure to slip in some auntie and niece bonding time during the ceremony.

When Saturday finally came, I quickly groomed the kitties and got them ready to go to their new homes. Addy was the first to come over and picked up her cat Smokey. Then Logan came 30 minutes after Addy left and brought home Cherry. Then an hour later the new owners of Bloo and Mellow came to get them as well.

A few hours later I called Maribel and told her that I would be arriving at the science facility in about 10 minutes. Then I got in my car and drove down town. I parked my car in the lot beside the building and I walked to the front entrance.

"Dawn!!"
I heard my name be called and I turned around to see Addy and Logan. I had called and invited Addy and Logan to come with me to the tour as well. They were happy to come, mostly because we would be getting a tour of the building that's not open to the public.

They both ran over to my side, excited to get this tour started.
"Come on Dawn, let's go!", Logan quickly said.
"Alright, alright, let's go."

We all walk inside the building and I was instantly greeted by Maribel.
"DAWN! I'm so glad you made it."
"Maribel, it's nice seeing you again. These are my friends, Addy and Logan."
Maribel looks from me to my friends and smiles, then reaches out her hand to shake their hands.

After the greeting Maribel led us down a long hallway and the tour began. She showed many rooms where the scientists were finding cures to different diseases, some were experiments on how supernatural beings become supernatural beings, others were machine testings; such as teleportors and time machines.

The last room we visited was a top secret room that no one outside the science facility knows about. It was a real treat that Addy, Logan, and I were the only non-employees that gets a sneak peek of the biggest project that this science facility has.

Maribel walks in first and she immediately approaches one of her co-workers, Liam O'Dourke.
"Liam these people are my sister and her friends, I'm giving them a tour and they would like to see our top secret project."
"Can they keep a secret?"
"Absolutely."
"Well then let's show them."

Maribel led us to the glass wall where we could see into the medium sized room that held a large device. Maribel stood next to Liam and they began telling us about the secret project that no one outside the building knows about. We're the first outsiders to see and hear about it.
"This is the Universe Traveler 2000. For the last 5 years we've been working on this machine to help us travel to different alternate universes. We have done a few tests on it but we're still working on learning how to jump from one universe to another without someone at headquarters. You see, we figured out how to send something out but only someone at headquarters can move them from universe to universe. But that's just inanimate objects, we haven't done any human testing yet. We feel the machine isn't stable enough to transfer living specimens."

As Maribel talked more about the Universe Traveler 2000, I looked into the room where two scientists were talking and writing a few notes down on their clip boards. The machine was huge and looked big enough to fit even a large horse inside.

Logan lost interest of what Maribel was saying and was fascinated by the machine itself. He was the one that asked if we could go inside to take a closer look, but since we're just visitors and not scientists it was off limits.

After the last stop in our tour Maribel took us to the kitchen to get something to eat before we would head home.

Just as we all finished eating our meals a loud siren went off and the large red lights by the door started flashing. We had no idea what was going on, but by the look on Maribel's face, it wasn't good. I quickly got up and ran to ask Maribel what was wrong but she just kept telling me that everything is fine and that she's was gonna finds out what's happening.

She told us to stay in the kitchen and just as she was about to leave, Liam came running in with urgency. I couldn't hear exactly what he was telling Maribel from the loudness of the siren, but what I did hear was that the building wasn't safe and the source of the danger was coming from the room we were just in not long ago.

Maribel bolted out the room with Liam not far behind, leaving Logan, Addy, and I in the kitchen wondering what to do next.

We were there only 2 minutes after they left when we suddenly heard a scream coming from done the hall. Any other time the scream would have warned us to stay where we were, cause it's way too dangerous but not this time. I looked to Addy with terror in my eyes and she knew why, the scream belonged to Maribel.

Without a second thought I ran out the kitchen calling Maribel's name. Even though my yelling was drown out by the sound of the siren I still continued to call out to my sister. Addy and Logan were right behind me, following me down the hall to the source of the danger and where my sister was in trouble.
I pushed the double doors open and ran into the secret lab, then I pushed passed a few other employees and ran through the glass door into the room that held the Universe Traveler.

I stopped and starred down in shock at the site before me. Never in my life have I seen such a scene.

Maribel was thrown to the ground by the machine that had now gone completely haywire. It was on the verge of explosion and my sister was right in it's path.

I flew forward and helped her off the ground. She looked to me in horror, scared to death that I was there with her and in danger.
"DAWN! You have to leave!"
"No, not without you!"
There was a loud pop and wires from the machine were swinging around and slamming against the wall and the glass of the machine, cracking it. The glass shattered, Maribel screamed and I held her close. Addy and Logan ran into the room and tried to help us towards the door, but it was too late.

The machine exploded and the last thing I remember seeing was a large flash of light and then everything went black.

When I began to regain consciousness, my head was spinning and I felt like I was gonna barf up everything I just ate. It took me a few minutes to realize I was laying on grass and not the tile floor of the science facility.

I heard a gasp and then Addy's voice. "Logan I found her. I think she's hurt."
I looked up and by then my head had cleared and I could see much better, but my stomach stilled turned. Logan ran over by the time I finally sat up. He grabbed hand and helped me off the ground.

When I finally got to my feet and was able to balance myself in the grass, Logan and Addy started to grill me with questions.
"Dawn, what the hell happened?", Logan asked imeediately.
"I have no idea."
"Where are we?", Addy asked.
Then it hit me, where are we? I don't remember leaving the science facility at all, then it all came back to me.
"The explosion, at the Science Facility."

Before anyone can say anything else, my phone goes off. I looked at the caller I.D. and it read, Maribel.

I pressed answer and held the phone to my hear.
"Maribel?"
"DAWN! Thank god, the reception works."
"What are you talking about?"
"Dawn, I have some bad news. The explosion. When the device malfunction it caused an explosion and, and sent you three outside the space time continuum."
"Huh?"
"Dawn, your in an alternate universe."
My mouth fell open and I couldn't speak. I felt like I had to throw up all over again. This couldn't be happening.

Generation 1, Chapter 8: Expanding the Family

In the week that Newbie and I came back from our honeymoon I couldn't take my mind of the fact that Maribel could be my sister. At first I did nothing and just thought up all these reasons why I shouldn't just hop in a car and go to Starlight Shores and find her, but another part of me is wondering if that accidental meet was meant to happen and I was suppose to find my sister. But I couldn't just up leave like that, so about 5 days since we got back I started going through my parents old things I kept in the attic, hoping that I could find anything that can prove that Maribel is my sister, or least a lead me to finding her at all.
"Dawn? Are you in here again?" Newbie's voice was soft as not to scare me, but I knew he would show up here eventually. The last few days Newbie has caught me in the attic in the early hours of the morning.

 "I'm so close Newbie I can feel it. I just got to keep looking and not give up."
"Dawn you looked through everything more then once, there's no where else to look."

 I got up from my dad's old trunk and approached Newbie by the door. "There may not be anymore here but there's a whole world out there and there's a hall of records and a library. I'm not giving up."

 "Well if this is that important to you then I'm behind you 100%. I have work right now but right after work I'll try and help you in any way that I can. Alright?" I smiled as Newbie finished his sentence and stroked my cheek with his right hand. He's so wonderful.

 Grabbing my hands and swinging it back and forth, Newbie says, "You gonna be alright?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I think I'll head to city hall to check our the hall of records, maybe I can find any adoptions records under my parents name.

Newbie's carpool arrived and I watched from the second floor hall window as he ran to the car where his co workers are waving to him and shouting for him to hurry up.

 As they drove off I walked back to my room, changed out of my sleeping clothes, and put on something more decent, then I grabbed my car keys and headed into town.

 Walking up the steps to city hall I heard a familiar voice call out my name. I took a quick glance behind me and saw that it was Addy running full speed towards my direction.
"DAWNIE!!"
"Addy? Oh, hey Addy."

 "Hey, Dawn it's funny running into you in town. When did you get back from your honeymoon?"
"Oh a week ago."
"A week ago? How come you haven't called? I mean I am your best friend here."
"Sorry I've been distracted this passed week."
"Distracted? Ooooooh, I get it. The honeymoon is still not over yet."

 Addy gave me a quick wink and my face turned red, "No, no, no. Not that Addy. I mean that I think I ran into my sister at the Starlight Shores airport when we got back from Waikiki Island."
"What! Really? How? I mean how could she be your sister?"
"She looks just like me but with fuller lips, she looks like my grandma Belle, you know the one member of my family I look like the most. Plus she has my mom's brown and red hair. It's her, I know it. That's why I'm here at city hall. I'm gonna see if I can find anything that'll prove that she's my sister in the hall of records."
"That's crazy, I mean you could actually be that close to finding your sister. Can I come along?"
"Yea, I need all the help I can get."

We looked but came up empty handed. We looked through every adoption record in Sunset Valley and every nearby town in the year that my sister was born. It looked as if luck was definitely not on my side. But I'm not gonna have this one small misstep get me down, no, I'm not giving up until I find something.
After all the hard searching we did, I treated Addy with dinner at the bistro. We have spent nearly an entire day looking and hadn't eaten once. We quickly grabbed a bite to eat and I invited her back to my place to hang out.

Addy had some fans that wanted to get her autograph first, so she signed a few napkins and then we made our way back to my place.

The drive home was filled with nothing but Addy and I talking about other ways we could find out about adoptions. We could drive to Sunset Valley and check out the record hall there, they're bound to have records there that Hidden Springs didn't have, since the adoption took place in Sunset Valley.
I pulled into the driveway and we entered the house through the back. We entered into a house of silence. The entire first floor was deserted with no signs of Newbie anywhere. I skipped up the steps with Addy not far behind me and checked out our bedroom. Nope, no Newbie. We then walked down the hall and began to hear some noises coming from my art studio.

 I grabbed the door knob and twisted it open, only to reveal Newbie playing with four little kittens that I never seen before.

 "Newbie? W-where did all these kitten come from?" I asked, scratched my head in confusion.
Looking up at me, Newbie smiled and said, "Opal had babies."

 Addy let out a big squeal and ran other to scoop up one of the kittens. "Awe Dawn!!! I must have one. Can I have this little guy?"
Looking from Newbie to Addy I said, "Yeah," I then looked back at Newbie and said, "I didn't even know she was pregnant."
"I guess she hides it well," Newbie said, chuckling.

An hour later we were all downstairs in the kitchen. Newbie got online and placed an ad on facebook for anyone that wanted a kitten. Addy was all around, chasing the little kitten she claimed earlier. I stood off to the side and paid no attention to what Newbie or Addy was doing, I still thought about the fact I have gotten no where with finding out who my long lost sister was or where she is.
"There was nothing there Newbie, I mean absolutely nothing. We even went to the library and used the computer. I don't know where to go from here."

 Newbie finished typing whatever it was he was typing, finishing touches to the ad, and turned to look at me. I had walked over and leaned against the desk, staring at nothing in particular.
"Don't worry Dawn, we'll find her. I promise." I signed and Newbie began to talk again, "Look I might have a friend that knows someone that's a detective. Maybe I can call him up and-"
Ding-Dong
Newbie was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the door bell. I looked over at him and once I got the okay he's finished talking look I got up and went to go answer the door.

 I got a flash of red in the corner of my eye and once I got closer to the door I saw the face of the woman from Starlight Shores.
Maribel?
I quickly opened the door and she looked at me, surprised at how fast the door had come open.
"Hello?" I said, looking at her with questioning eyes.
She hesitated at first but then said,"Dawn Turner? I'm Maribel, remember me from last week from Starlight Shores? I, um, I'm your sister."

"W-what?!"
I knew it!!

I would like to welcome the newest additions to the Starr family. Meet Cherry, Smokey, Bloo and Mellow. ^_^

Wanted to let you know that Addy actually did claim Smokey as her own, and Logan claimed Cherry. But I still have Bloo and Mellow, both boys, so if any of you them let me know. ^_^ This will be the only litter from Opal and Storm since they were kittens from cats made by other simmers. But I make kitties too so maybe Dawn and Newbie will get new cats and make more kittens. :D
